I certainly can't argue with that; the evidence against us is quite
damning. It's a pity too, because about half of the voting residents of
the US oppose what's going on. But sadly, that's not enough.

Perhaps we need to somehow convince massive numbers of Canadians to move
to the U.S. to help counteract the right-wing nut jobs... but I can't
think of any reason why a sensible Canadian would do that to himself,
except perhaps to better the world as a whole.

But wow, this thread was off-topic to begin with, and I've just made it
worse. Sorry about that. I just can't pass up the opportunity to
apologize to the rest of the world for my country's evils. Please
remember that many Americans do not support our government's recent
atrocities.

Now, let's not make things worse. With that attitude, you're just like
the Bush administration, thinking that by bombing small countries into
the Stone Age you can squash terrorism -- when in reality, that just
guarantees fervent anti-American sentiment for generations to come
(leading to *greater* threat of terrorism which, conveniently, helps
maintain the Republican's fear-based popular support).

It's certainly apparent that the forces in power are doing everything
they can to consolidate that power and squash opposition, but I think
it's still likely that they will fail, and voices of reason will again
prevail. It's not time for revolution yet.
