Just a quick comment, although I don't know enough about Falcon
in particular to say whether I think it'll work or not:

George, the proposed mission being used to justify these
things is a Mars mission.
The vehicle is supposed to be able to go on a long two year or so trip
to Mars and back... if it can't function as its own fuel depot before it
leaves LEO, it probably doesn't have any business leaving LEO in the first
place.
