Even granting that the PAO made an honest mistake in mistaking "oblique" for "swept-wing", Pat's http://www.luft46.com/bv/bvp202.html shows that Jones' claim to fame isn't completely valid.

They are two different things- Jones "rediscovered" (whatever that is supposed to mean) Buseman's swept wing work in 1944;
Jones' oblique wing dates from 1946, after the wartime German designs and a lot of those design's designers- including Blohm and Voss madcap designer Dr. Richard Vogt, (who thought that Blohm and Voss' seaplane designs were ugly enough for his taste, but nowhere near as strange as they should have been- so he whipped up this little number: http://www.luft46.com/bv/bvp111.html ) had fallen into our hands and strange designs like forward swept wings: http://www.luft46.com/bv/bvp20902.html
....the aforementioned oblique wing, and this crazy thing: http://www.luft46.com/bv/bvrmist.html
were all the rage. Ever notice that those NASA improved aerodynamic efficiency winglets bear an uncanny resemblance to the wing tips on this thing?: http://www.luft46.com/bv/bvp215.html
....and that White Knight/SpaceShipOne looks more than a little like this?: http://www.luft46.com/db/dbbombb.html
MEIN FUHRER! I CAN VALK...I CAN FLY!!!! :-D
