That is a subset of a larger question: What are the astronauts supposed
to do on the moon? One-week expeditions can do Apollo-style
geology(*). After that, "what else" starts to come up.

Which in turn leads to other questions. Once one has decided "what",
the next one is "how". "How much will it cost" comes after that.

I think there may be reasonable and doable answers, but they need to be
considered carefully.

(*) Yes, selenology is probably the appropriate word. But rather than
use a different word for each aggregation of rocks we visit, it would
be better to sigh, acknowledge the circumstances, and use "geology" as
a catchall term.
