AIUI, you've been designing on that basis for some while now, producing
designs that seem likely to be workable (and your articles are
invariably interesting).

But, AIUI, you've not flown any of those.

What is really needed is something entirely _doable_ with existing
engines, in-hand technology, and in an applicable "socio-politico-
economic environment" - which implies something that will get flown.

That probably means designs that will be demonstrated in actual
operation, in the opinion of the provider of the funds, within X years
from the providing of the funds - I guess X to be about 3.

Larger X has been used in other big projects, such as major dams and
bridges; but those are reasonably monopolistic. Once one has started
the Golden Gate Bridge, one can be reasonably certain that no-one will
suddenly unveil a parallel completed better bridge when yours is only
half finished.

Yours, however, is a market where rivals can work independently.
Therefore, no-one else will be entirely happy to invest in an eight-year
Space Pantechnicon project if he sees a risk of someone like you doing a
Van in half the time.
