Whatever gave you THAT idea??? An SSTO needs a heat-shield, just
like the Shuttle does, just like ANY spacecraft designed to return to
Earth does.

Because cryogens need to be insulated, or they boil off too
quickly. Foam is WAY lighter than ice, plus ice just can't keep
things cold enough.

NOT possible - cryogens *have* to have insulation to keep them
cool. Habitat modules need insulation too, you know...

Personally, I prefer using non-cryogenic fuels for launch vehicles.
