Only 12 U.S. Launches in 2005

Now that the SpaceX crew has headed home for the
holidays, the U.S. launch total for the year is final.
U.S.-built rockets only performed twelve space launches
in 2005. It was the lowest number of U.S. space
launches in a calendar year since 1988.

The most recent U.S. launch was more than two months
ago, on October 19.

Russia, meanwhile, plans to add five more space launches
to its current total of 21 (as of 12/20) before the end of the
year. Russia also provided the rocket engines and upper
stages for four Ukrainian-assembled Sea Launch rockets.
