George W. Bush and Michael Griffin are just not serious about space.

Bush is only interested in leaving a legacy. I wonder if he thought that legacy would be an albatross, like all the other leagcies he's leaving.

I think Griffin is serious about space. The problem is he's a product of his experience in the Shuttle program in general, and his time at Marshall in particular.

He has to admit his mistake then, and evolve this colossal Marshall ESAS screwup incrementally, into something that will really work for US.

Kill the Schtick and the J2.

Invest in the RL-60, RLX, SSME and IPD.

Forget the CEV, go modern six person capsules to the ISS.

Use the Delta IV Medium and the Soyuz for the small stuff, and invest in an all new versatile heavy lift architecture, built around reusability.

Encourage the commercial guys to explore TSTO winged vehicles.

The SRB *IS* the albatross of launch efficiency and costs.

Sooner or later we have to just say *NO* to ATK.
