On 12 Jun 2006 06:57:22 -0700, in a place far, far away, "Hyper"
<hyperboreea@xxxxxxxxx> made the phosphor on my monitor glow in such a
way as to indicate that:
Had he established an $1-5 BN prize to bring launch costs to say
$1000/kg, I would have been in awe of him. Unfortunately, the current
pork & circus "vision" doesn't impress me much.
Me, neither. But it still beats anything done in the past. As I
said, it's damning him with faint praise. That you could misinterpret
my comment as calling him a "messiah" is hilariously dumb.
It was a satirical/sarcastic qualifier to point out your obvious
exaggeration of his accomplishment.
There was no exaggeration. It is what it is.
I'd say that smacks of bias, but
it's propably just "misinterpretation".
What's "hilariously dumb" is the belief that his plan will work.
Kennedy had Johnson to continue his plan (to say nothing about the
Russian scare). I guess you hope Jeb will carry on his brother's
"vision".
I don't care if his vision is carried out, given the way NASA's chosen
to do it. I'd actually prefer that the program die, at this point
(though the vision--that we are going beyond earth orbit, and into the
cosmos, remains fine, and remains more visionary than that of any
previous president).
BTW, remember Nixon's speach about making space access economical? Lots
of people throught it was the greatest ideea ever. Whatever happened to
that?
It morphed into the Space Shuttle.
