They are expensive ideas - but not fundamentally impossible.
When compared to some possible scenarios cost - for example the shutting
down of the gulf stream due to dilution from the melting icecaps
stopping the circulation leading to massive cooling of much of europe,
the cost does not look so large any more.
Of course, the politics, not to mention who's going to pay for it may
well be a show-stopper.
