But how was that a near disaster? Did they amass debt in anticipation
of the contract?
They invested considerable capital of their own in addition to the
goverment funding.
Really? I'm not familiar with the history, but based on my knowledge
of the history of government contracts, I doubt that. They may have
devoted some IR&D, but that's not their money, other than the sense
that how it's spent is discretionary.
