Busted, eh? If Keith would want to offer an opinion, we'd be delighted
to hear it. But he's pretty busy inspecting pixels of photos taken in
ISS for evidence of birthday balloons (and perhaps dirty underwear as
well?) and vulcanizing NASA leadership. I'm impressed at the level of
effort that goes into those tasks, so let's not waste his time on stuff
like this!

It would seem that NASA Watch is strongly focused on humanizing space
exploration, and the bond the taxpayer can feel with the humanity part
of the human space flight effort. Given that NASA has done an
absolutely abysmal job of developing that bond, it is not an
unreasonable pursuit and actually pretty amusing in a weird sort of
way. But in abcnews.com parlance, that kind of stuff perhaps best
belongs in a "Watercooler" section, rather than in headlines for a web
site that really could play an important role in advancing national
goals for space exploration. No doubt people like it, but ...

Again, this isn't a matter of not having good reporting, but a matter
of diluting that good reporting more than it ever seemed to be diluted,
perhaps displacing reportage that deserves to be heard. For all the
teeth knashing about press credentials, one would like to believe we're
reading more than just a dime-a-dozen personal blog here.
