Just in the last hour Ernesto is starting to form a weak eye.
Moving across the southern tip of Florida doesn't slow these
things down. As the everglades has plenty of shallow warm
water. And it appears the storm is moving more towards the
west coast, not up the east coast as forecast.
It appear possible to me the storm could continue
strengthening if it goes into the gulf. Then make it's
predicted turn to the north-northeast.
In the worst case, that could bring a category one or two
right over central Florida.
It seems a few days saved isn't worth the risk to me.
