The EU is a socialist bureaucracy.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

It is.

Your opinion.

For space advances, socialist bureacracy have up to now proven a better
system than anything else, since they're the only ones to have run
sucessfull programs.

Boy are you out to lunch. They're the only ones to have run successful
programs because they were the only ones in the game, period. So any
accomplishment whatsoever, no matter how small and no matter how much money
used up and time taken to produce such smallness, will be a success when no
other means than the state's means will ever be allowed to exist to measure
its success against. As someone once said, with the technology at hand, we
should have had a going base on the moon by now and a permanently going
concern in space. What is the cost of a state monopoly? The cost of a total
monopoly of ONE? The cost of there being one thread, and one thread only,
permitted? Say one car type, and one car type only, state designed and
produced and owned? Say one aircraft type, and one aircraft type only, state
designed and produced and owned? No other designers. No other producers. No
other system permitted.

There are no blackouts where there are many more than one. There are no
brownouts where there are many more than one. There are no catastrophic
failures, catastrophic costs, where there are many more than one. Where
there is massively energetic proprietary redundancy in being. Where is
Socialism's pool of designers? Pool of producers? It has no pools available
at all since there are no others than it in existence. It must handcraft in
time each designer from scratch, each producer from scratch, for each
position that comes available in its naked singularity of total monopoly.
There can be no extended pools to draw from since there will be no others
than it. An infinitely costly way to go in money and time. Eventually,
inevitably, infinitely disasterous.

"Proven a better system than anything else"? No prosperity exists with
regard to Man and Means in Space today. None whatsoever, after more than a
half a century of Socialist type rule of means and future regarding Man in
Space. Right now we are just a single costly thin thread away from being
without any going "system" whatsoever. Is that proof of a better system? It
is proof of a better Iron Curtain tyranny and Fist being in being for so
long. That is all it is proof of.

All that said, there has never been a policy to stifle the private
sector WRT space travel. In fact, Space Ship 1 is hanging near the
Sprit of St. Louis, close to the Apollo 11 comand module in the front
room of the National Air and Space Museum on the DC Mall. I saw it
there just last month.

The success and lack thereof WRT private space ventures is wholly its
own.
