Sure there is no immediate return on your investment in human
exploration of space, but you cannot negate the fact that sending
humans to Mars, or space, would give us more information than a couple
of robots. The fact remains that in order for anyone to get to go to
space someone has to do it first and while robotics are a good start we
cannot understand the entire human factor without sending a human.

What the rovers have told us about Mars is that there's
no good reason for sending people there.

Do not get me wrong, I am an advocate for robotics research as well
but if you ever want to go from sitting in front of your computer to
space I suggest appreciating human space flight a bit more.

Most of us will be dead by the time a human sets foot on
Mars.

Are you suggesting the collapse of civilization?

the rovers are finding now.

So land somewhere else. (Although Apollo 12 showed there's even value in going where a probe's already been.)

Oh, are you suggesting the surface of Mars (or even the Moon) is so uniform, that what existing landers and rovers have found is all there is to find?

Then why are we continuing to send probes at all?

If not, if there's more to be learned, then don't presume to know what a human crew will or won't find.
