Re: Dr Bussard's research

Else <sylvia@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> made the phosphor on my monitor glow
in such a way as to indicate that:

Just because you think that air breathing
engines are a non-starter doesn't mean you're right. After all, there
are people with an acknowledged expertise in the area who are pushing
the idea.

And there are many more (including me) who are pushing the opposite.

I wasn't aware that engineering facts could be determined democratically.

Neither was I. So what was *your* point?

*My* point was that I'm not self evidently wrong. I didn't claim
majority support for my position. You did for yours.

No, I was merely responding to your argument by authority with an
argument by even more authorities.

So now we're to enter a debate on what does, or does not, constitute an
argument from authority?

Nup, I can't be bothered.

I'm not surprised, since that's all you seem to have. Your certainly
don't seem able to back it from the physics, whether you understand it
or not.

(Just in case, though, here's one hint: I didn't claim a "majority,"
so your claim doesn't even stand.)
