Sir Martin Rees is 110% right. The ISS is a turkey. Technological spin
off is indeed real, but that involves doing things in space that are
otherwise useful. Work in robotics and AI is generally useful and a
space program in which these technologies were promenant would have
loads of spin offs.
The ISS is in fact taking space AWAY from what is generally useful.
If you truly believe that , then turn it over to our international
partners.
Why do I picture a kid destroying his toy when he's done with it
rather than giving it to another kid; when I see you and the ISS?
