The white spots are claimed to be mining activities.
The website says that ESA is the source of the image.
So, what do you think about that?

Even if the picture is in true colour, it could be nothing more than an oxide of copper or such like.
Green isn't even a particulary obvious colour for plant life, because it involves reflecting the high energy end of the spectrum, and trying to scrape a living on the lew energy end.
