With the abow in mind, I´m telling you I expected a civil war in Iraq.

So? So did I. Nonetheless, Saddam had to go.

And there is much more than a civil war going on there, despite your
living in denial. If we leave, Al Qaeda will have a new enclave.

You´ve got not a flyspeck chance of removing the al-Qaeda from Iraq,

It's already happening, in Anbar and Diyala.

unless you are willing to stay there the next 20 years, and keep
soaking in the casaulties till the civil war is over.

We are hardly "soaking in casualties" in Iraq. Learn a little
history.

Hmm, yeah I´ve been paying attension to the latest campaign.

That has nothing to do with my point. We lost more people in single
battles in past wars than we've lost in Iraq to date. The fact that
you say things like "soaking in casualties" shows a reality
disconnect.

Mind you,
I´ve got more faith in Petreus than anyone who has been there before,
but I´ll believe in his success once I´ve seen it happen.

It's already happening.

The guerillas have often enough before gone temporarilly underground
or moved aside to duck up again once the army is looking ellsewhere.

This time, the Iraqis are turning them in, and if they come back,
they'll continue to do so. They've had enough of Al Qaeda and the
foreign fighters.

Mind you, even though Iraqies have got fed up with the al-Qaeda, and
Petreus appears to be working with some tribal leaders, giving theyr
militias even arms, that does not end the other fight ongoing, i.e.
the sunni vs. ***.

Moreover, the recent tribal relationship could turn sour, but even so
these are the most intelligent moves I´ve seen. Nothing risked,
nothing gained.

Here is another expert opinion, this time on matters related to the al-
Qaeda:
