maintaining inventories for screws etc. The fact of the matter is that
UK manufacturing has for some time used the metric system pretty well
exclusively.
With the universal scientific acceptance of the metric system, it
seems incongrous to use anything different in a scientific discussion.
OK for discussion on relativity it is often convenient to put c=1.
