I'm working under the assumption that poor Ian is suffering from some form
of dementia or ADHD that impairs his ability to present ideas in a more
consistent stream. There's no profit in making fun of him for his
disability but you might be able work around it if you keep it in mind.

No, it's really not possible to "work around it." There is no
"profit" in trying to carry on a discussion with him at all.

You're probably right but I'll make my own judgement on the matter.
