If anyone doubts the contributions native Americans could have given
mainstream US culture, I would ask them to read Black Elk Speaks or
Sacred Pipe - to understand those aspects of native American culture
that would have made of the US a nation capable of living up to the
great hopes and dreams of its founding fathers.  Had we not invaded
Mexico in the 1840s we very well likely would not have had the Civil
War.  Had we embraced all the cultures God blessed us with within our
borders, we likely would have avoided the Great war the wars the
followed.

Really?  You mean like those charming cultures that flayed all the
skin off people, keeping them alive as long as possible, or buried
them up to their necks on ant hills with honey on their heads after
cutting off their eyelids, in the hot sun?  

Sure, no more wars with God-blessed cultures like that.

Good over evil in the context of Native America was NOT white
Europeans defeating those already here in North America. The point is
that evil Native Americans could easily have been defeated by a
combination of good Europeans and good Native Americans. Problem was
that there was no room for good Native Americans with so many bad
Eurpoeans around.
