Let us look at one topic - low cost spaceflight and a 2STO. There has
been at least one classified program "Blackstar" to do just that. It
has been abandoned. On what grounds I don't know.
There is no proof that this program existed

This is respectable journal. Nothing "kookie" about it.

I get the impression that the USA keeps two generations of super-
secret aircraft. The Blackstar if it exists, replaced the SR-71
about the time the U2 was declassified. The SR-71 was declassified
about the time the Aurora external scramjet plane was developed -
assuming IT exists. And the Blackstar will be declassified when the
'hive' automated networked fleet of miniature aircraft, using hybrid
laser/chemical propulsive skin - becomes operational.
send a swarm to Mars. This will involve having a "self repairing"
mission. Laser chemical propulsion. My iformation is simply chemical
propulsion. The interesting fact is that they have got mobile phone
software. They can link up into one large software system. This is
exciting.
I think, mind, it is depressing that automated warfare is coming
first.
On Aurora etc. The RAF have seen a UFO travelling at Mach 6. If we
remember that the SR71 was 3-4, 6 is in the plausable range for
Aurora.
As you rightly say we get tantalising glimpses. We do not have any
real details. We do not know either what the fuel consumption for
Aurora was/is. We know it was scrapped. BTW you might think that M6
will bash up the Iranians. his is a little misleading. In combat
acceleration is in fact what you want. Aurora will have a predicable
path and can be shot down by a more manoeverable missile which is
travelling slower.
There is precious little evidence of any of this - just a carefulWe get tantalising glimpses.
reading of the AIAA publications and what is hot and what disappears
over time - and coordinating that with what is going on in the
field.
MUFON and other agencies might be sponsored by the Chinese and other
nations for that reason. But we don't know that either! lol.
That's the trouble with too many secrets - it circumvents what we
consider to be good government - but Ken Arrow and others going back
to Condorcet - don't believe good government is possible on even a
theoretical level! lol.
This of course assumes that secret work is efficient. There is an
interesting thread on this.

I think too that there are two aspects to this. One of these is the
existence of secret work itself. The other aspect is energetic
debunking and character assasination. "The pilot was involved in
transporting drugs" - accusation completely unfounded. This is what I
am homing in on, NOT secrecy per se.
I have talked about Beni (containing Binat) al Kalb. The war in Iraq
needed "hearts and minds" not Aurora. The sort of character
assasination I have described puts people's backs up, EVEN THOSE
PEOPLE WHO MIGHT OTHERWISE SUPPORT YOU. Of course if you are a bint
you are more likely to be court martialled.

This doesn't make governments evil, it does however pose a common mode
threat to efficient government as more and more programs gain the
dross of secrecy and the market place and the public is denied the
public benefit of the technology in a world that increasingly doesn't
really benefit THAT MUCH from keeping the technology secrets.
