As I said the debate will continue, panspermia is a definite
possibility. While it is possible for living systems to make it to
Mars, from Earth, on rare occasion, naturally, it is far more likely
that the same rain of materials that brought oceans to Mars and Earth
3.8 billion years ago brought life to both places at that time. The
astro-archeology will tell us over time and astro-biology.
Due to the much greater than Mars gravity, it's highly unlikely
panspermia migrated any complex DNA of life from Earth to Mars.
I agree that panspermia will not easily be confirmed unequivically.
Panspermia will only be confirmed when we send sterilzed probes to
Kuiper belt objects and find life there that is clearly related to
Earth life and Mars life. Very unlikely that life could have made
it from Earth to the Kuiper belt. Very likely however that life
encased in ices dozens of kilometers thick could easily have made it
back to Earth 3.8 billion years ago - if life formed in the
interstellar cloud that was the proto-sun.
Ceres should be worth a look-see, but then so should Venus, whereas
those having evolved as spores smarter than humans, or perhaps just
regular old ETs of Venus having managed to create their very own
tarmac, a substantial township or commercial looking village of
substantial structures, along with multiple and complex reservoirs,
quite possibly a large rigid airship and even a fairly nifty bridge.
Of course those of us stuck with using a white cane and braille
mindset (like yourself) need not bother looking.
