With a fully populated solar power satellite system comprised of 4,800
powersats beaming bandgap matched laser power to 25,000 sq km of solar
panels located throughout the Sonoma Desert region of the USA the USA
produces 6.8 billion tons of hydrogen gas each year from water.
At that point the world then produces the following, without
increasing its carbon footprint;
6.8 billion tons hydrogen
5.5 billion tons coal
1.1 billion tons natural gas
23.8 billion barrels crude oil products
887 million tons of hydrogen replaces the 5.5 billion tons of coal.
Adding another 600 million tons of hydrogen and 1.6 billion tons of
oxygen to the coal produces 39.6 billion barrels of crude oil
products. 443 million tons of hydrogen replaces 1.1 billion tons of
natural gas. Adding another 1.1 billion tons of oxygen to that gas
produces 2.2 billion tons of methanol. Dehydrating that methanol
produces 12.4 billion barrels of liquid fuels. This raises the total
to 42 billion barrels per year from these sources. This allows us to
double our oil usage while reducing our carbon footprint below the
levels where carbon production is a problem. Meanwhile, we still
have 5.5 billion tons of hydrogen per year remaining which allows us
24 years of strong economic growth world wide.
Beyond 24 years, increasing dependence on direct beaming, augments
hydrogen use to permit continued expansion of our industrial economy
beyond 260% today's level while maintaining a reduced carbon output.
