The only problem was that working on the front of the engine meant
either pulling it or getting a little person to crawl in through the
ducting. Lockheed was a major employer of little people for that very

because he was small, had small fingers, but he could perform very
delicate work underneath the LM consoles that most of the other techs
found too difficut to reach. There's been mention of someone of that
stature at North American, but in neither case has the helpful Smurf
been revealed.
