Dude, why do I even talk to you? I say a thing with references, and

We bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki with nuclear weapons. Among the
various effects there was a gamma burst of ionizing radiation - people
survived exposures of up to 450 rads delivered in a few seconds.
In animals, it has been shown the continuous low level doses, like the
20 millirads per day you get in interplanetary space, and the 8
milirads you get unsheilded on Mars - total over 2 years to about 12.4
rads - this increases the risk of cancer far less than having a glass
of wine per day, or a cigarette a week.
Terrestrial sources of radiation expose humans to 240 millirads per
year -a lifetime exposure of 2 rads.
These levels do not cause immediate problems and in fact very likely
induce radiation homesis.
You should thank a whole lot more of your luck stars that you have ten
tonnes worth of low reaction shielding plus our terrific
magnetosphere, as otherwise there never would have been a William Mook
to start with.
