Stalin and Hitler and Mussolini would have

Hitler invaded Russia on June 22, 1941. Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on
Dec. 7, 1941.
I'm sorry but that proves my point. I didn't mean to imply America
caused the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and the Alliance between Stalin and
Hitler. I only meant to say that concern with US and British attack
created the agreement in the first place.
The Molotov - Ribbentrop pact was signed before the Invasion of Poland
because Hitler feared opening a war on two fronts in taking Poland..
Had he felt the USA would never enter the war, this may not have been
done, or might not have lasted as long.
Many on the political left were outraged that the Soviet Union would
make such a treaty with Nazi Germany
Many Communists in Western parties repudiated this action and resigned
their party membership in protest.
Nazis were outraged by this treaty, and some party members went so far
as to throw their party badges into the courtyard of the Brown House
The whole thing was doomed from the start.
Had the USA NOT been voting to declare war against had FDR NOT been so
vocally supportive of attacking Germany things would have fallen apart
that much sooner for all parties - if they signed any agreement at
all.
They would have attacked one another - seeing each other as the strong
powers in the future and their own citizens would have toppled them
with only minor covert assistance within..
And the U.S. would have thwarted the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
if it could.
It could that's the point. It did not that's the point.
The US had radar warning and decrpts.
Several votes were taken to enter the war prior to the attack on Pearl
Harbor. It went down to defeat several times in 1940. In 1939 FDR
promised Churchill that the US would get into the war..
These defeats occurred despite the efforts of the War Department.
They got 75 newspapers to change their editorial policies in 1939 and
1940 by putting pressure on them.
Most Americans don't know that the anti-sedition acts of World War One
gave teh war department rights to censor and control the news related
to war. There has been a censorship office at the War Department
since the outbreak of World War One. The War Department (now DOD)
issues certification for journalists to gain access to
government ;information at all levels, not just war information since
that time up to the current day.
Despite pressure from the War Department and FDR Congress still failed
to vote for War.
This is why former United States Navy Rear Admiral Robert A. Theobald,
has argued that various parties high in the U.S. and British
governments knew of the attack in advance and may even have let it
happen or encouraged it in order to force America into war.
Examination of information released since the War has revealed there
was considerable intelligence information available to US and other
nations' officials.
The U.S. had advanced knowledge of the attack, both from decrypts and
radar..
A weakened post-attack force decimated Yamamoto's fleet at Midway six
months after the Pearl Harbor attack. There is no doubt had the USA
acted on intelligence decrypts and RADAR information the day before
the attack, and met the fleet in the coean, the Battle of Hawaii would
have the same decisive result as theBattle of Midway six months later
and the Japanese would think twice about American preparedness
throughout this period..
This would have given the US the ability to negotiate limits on
Japanese action throughout this period without firing a shot - while
remaining free to arm and train and support through covert means
whomever we liked at very little risk..
