On Mon, 3 Nov 2008 10:40:41 -0500, in a place far, far away, "Jeff
Findley" <jeff.findley@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> made the phosphor on my monitor
glow in such a way as to indicate that:
Are you talking about collusion, artificially high wages, or both? What
in
Obama's proposed plans makes you believe he's going to allow collusion or
artificially inflate wages?

That wasn't what I was talking about, but I think it's pretty much
guaranteed that there will be an increase in the minimum wage (with a
concomitant loss of jobs). And without knowing what you mean by
"collusion" I can't comment.

I was referring to raising taxes in a recession, and impeding free
trade (which is what Hoover did, and Roosevelt continued). Those are
both part of his platform.

And do you seriously believe that a Dem-controlled government won't
institute wage and price controls of some sort (they already exist in
many cases--they'll just get worse).

Funny, the UCLA article you cited in another posting says nothing about
taxes, but does mention this:

"So he came up with a recovery package that would be unimaginable today,
allowing businesses in every industry to collude without the threat of
antitrust prosecution and workers to demand salaries about 25 percent above
where they ought to have been, given market forces. The economy was poised
for a beautiful recovery, but that recovery was stalled by these misguided
policies."

No mention of taxes.

Jeff
