Yes, it's a learning curve, and we're currently further along it with

long before Apollo 1. The NAA X-15 folks even warned the NAA Apollo folks
about it, before the fire, to no avail. The Apollo 1 fire was no less a
result of NASA arrogance and schedule pressure than the two shuttle
accidents. It was not the result of lack of knowledge.



Having spoken to insiders from apollo one nasa never thought of a
ground full up fire.
