Not so.

Oxygen taken in from breath will predominantly go out as CO2; but oxygen
taken in from food will in part be eliminated as water from which
breathable oxygen can be obtained. With efficient recycling of all bar
dry faeces, and with little wastage, food alone can in principle supply
all the material needed to make up losses. But not yet, no doubt, in
practice.
