Correct. White Star Line did not merge with Cunard until the mid-1930's.
Although at the time of the Titanic's loss in 1912, it was part of J.P.
Morgan's International Mercantile Marine trust organization. Technically
speaking, the Titanic was an American owned vessel.

You are also correct that the RMS Carpathia was a Cunard-owned and
operated vessel. The Carpathia herself was sunk scarcely 4 years later by
the U55 170 miles west of Bishop Rock. But only 5 crew were killed.
