There does seem to be an issue with "standard" Floridian construction.
There was a Weather Channel item on this during the run up to Jeanne
pointing out that older buildings survived better than newer and that new
construction codes had helped with post-Andrew builds.

I must admit that I've gone off the idea of Florida as a place to live. My
wife was at a business event recently and a gay introduced his business by
saying, "Hi, I'm Jim and I used to run Florida Sun Properties...."
