But the actual shop floor is at what elevation ? I take it it would be
flooded with salt water ?

The lockheedmartin site doesn't seem to have any press release about its
michoud facility and Katrina. It does have an interesting one dated aug
24 about testing hurricane force winds on cars!!!!! (I guess it refers
to a wind tunnel).

Found nice pictures of the ET though:

Not many pictures of the facility. But one small one
http://www.lockheedmartin.com/wms/findPage.do?dsp=fec&ci=15374&rsbci=15260&fti=0&ti=0&sc=400&jsi=false

Does allow one to see some of the levees and barriers around. The
facility's canal is supposedly "deep water", but the facility doesn't
face Lake Ponchartrin, it faces south. So maybe it might be spared major
flooding coming in from the lake.

It depends on how much very fragile equipment they were able to fly
away, how much can be protected in the large hangar. I suspect large
metal rigs to hold the ET wouldn't be damaged, just get very wet.

The hangar may get damaged, but it seems to be large enough that some
part will probably survive and be usable to make ETs.
