All I can say is we are obviously from different generations. Here is a
quote my daughter sent me from college from a man several generations before
us:
"The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which
is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and
has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of
better men than himself." -John Stuart Mill
Although this was said in the context of war there the sentiments apply to
other endeavors. Sometimes, to make progress, men must put their lives on
the line. Think what the world would be like if no one ever ventured out on
the sea until their safety was assured. I just hope my daughter's generation
learns to get back on the horse.
