"So I say we use it, if at all possible, to finish what we've started
with the ISS. After both Challenger and Columbia the Shuttle has
become safer in being able to make more flights without a failure,
which did kill people .... and yea, it was the Shuttle design that
killed them .... We knew the Shuttle wasn't safe when we were
designing it, let's just hope it's safe enough for another 19
flights, it should be."
I have to agree, I don't understand the all fired impatience to end
Shuttle flights,
its not all that many to finish a ... well... kind of 'core complete'
ISS. What less than
20?
My perspective is don't let the CEV become a 'paper project', at the
same time don't go 'whole hog' at the expense of completion of the ISS.
There might be a small flight gap with the CEV after retirement of the
Orbiter at the end of 2010, ..., but not much..., as long as the will
is there...., if its there after the election of 2008?!
Lord only knows what ... , then, ...or what happens if budget deficits
eat our lunch!
