Falling coconuts kill more than 10 times as many people each year thanYou forget one important thing: the family knows the choice made by the astronauts, and they know the risks!
the Space Shuttle has in 25-years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go ahead make light of the shuttles death rate, minimize it, ho ho ho
it, no biggie and the astronauts volunteered. heck human lives dont
matter its the hardwarte loss that counts.......... yep heard them all
here one time or another
NOW TELL THAT TO THE FAMILYS WHO LOST LOVED ONES!!!
This comparison is not right, a space shuttle does not carry any weapons and does not dodge weapons shot at it.
Flying the shuttle is more dangreous than flying military aircraft in
combat.
Also the Soyus capsules are not safer than the Shuttle is.
Space travel can not be safe, unless you remove the human aspect. There are things that can not be done by robots, there is alway a need for human presence in orbit on the ISS.
It appears the new management is schedule driven.
Again: the astronauts and their family know the risks, also the risk of death, and the crews are willing to take the risk.
Are all of you ready for another safety board, and seeing more die, on
a useless wasteful mission to a useless station no one wants?
Everyone can die in any form of traffic, there are more deaths in train accidents!
current management knows more foam loss is a instant pink slip with
their final paycheck.....
I understand managements schedule driven motives, heck the last
managers who did that got nice cushy jobs, while the crews
got.......... in the ocean
In my opinion, the crews do a great job flying in space, on board a Soyus, Space Shuttle or other (Chinese or Japanese) capsules.
