Understanding the orbiter programs achievements requires more than just
regurgitating and pasting news articles to present a lop sided opinion
of the space program. First, let's think of all the possible failures
any element of space vehicle can have, and devise ways that each of
those could cause the next "accident", and then state the next
accident will end the program. A tremendous level of research is
needed to quantify any one particular elements potential contribution
to a system or subsystems failure, and assess the probability of such
failures occurring. Now bringing this down a notch, you have presented
information about problems occurred, and the errors committed during
work on the space shuttles processing, without correlating the
error/problem/failure to a safety standard, nor to past experiences.
In fact you have not examined the tendencies of such failures, and
their effects or impact on safety when presenting your opinion and
setting and determing level for a program ending accident. Instead
you have made subjective assertions based on your own determination of
what is bad (i.e. what accident will end the shuttle program). I think
another thread existed presenting exactly how unique of an achievement
returning an orbiting winged space vehicle through the atmosphere at
mach 24 is, and how very few have repeated this task. Now, maybe you
should take a little time to understand the achievements of the
orbiter, and stop acting like a child where the space program has to
generate excitement for an adult to be interested, or be constantly
entertained by subjective benchmarks.
