responsibility too in that stage of the flight.
Silly suggestion. They can't do as good a job at this as someone on the
ground. All the cameras are there more to track where the foam came off the
ET, so the source can be eliminated from a later flight. That can happen on
the ground.
The really important inspections of the TPS happen in orbit using the new
sensor boom. That data is used to decide if the TPS is "go" for re-entry.
