Maybe slightly, but anybody who is in a psychological state such that
they're anything less than eager to do a windowless ascent as a
passenger has no business flying as a passenger on the shuttle.
Let mid deck "passengers" watch out for foam incidents, that will give
them a real responsibility too in that stage of the flight.
No, doing a make-work job that can be done MUCH better from
the ground than from the middeck is not a "real responsibility".
Plus, adding the hardware to allow them to monitor video
screens in a vibration-prone ascent environment means taking
away valuable payload.
