I think the gap filler was in a place where it really did not matter. The
blanket repair was because they did not want to burn a hole in the pod and
have to repair it when in a very tight turn around schedule.

wasn't there a protruding gap=filler near the landing gear door that
they were going to take care of? Did they already or not? All I hear
them talk about is the thermal blanket on the back that they said was
not really all that serious...
