Shuttle - ISS catch up?

How far behind the ISS does the shuttle launch?
Here in the UK, the ISS is visible tonight at 18.43 Eastern time, 23.43
local time, some 7 minutes after the launch. What I was wondering was if we
will also be able to see the shuttle shortly after that?
So I guess in other words, how long does the shuttle take to cross the
Atlantic after launch?
