Re: How do I convince my son's teachers that the US landed men on the Moon?

I've armed my son with data on relative escape velocities (Moon roughly
20% of Earth), weights (of Saturn V booster at launch vs. the returning
part of the LEM) but I'm looking for an argument that even a
math-and-science idiot might understand.

Remember also that the LEM didn't even have to reach lunar escape... it
only has to get to low lunar orbit to hook up with the CSM. This
mission profile was specifically chosen because it saved fuel mass.

Hello

How to meet with an orbiting object without reaching orbital speed....
There is no need to make false assertions which will complicate things even
more: With the data in Wikipedia and High school maths and a spread*** it
is easy to show that the LEM is able to reach orbit.
What is more complicated is the pursuit of the two objects that is difficult
even today and even in Earth orbit.

Of course, showing your son why the hoaxers arguments don't hold water
is probably a pretty good lesson, both in critical thinking and how
supposedly educated people can be taken in by a clever spiel.

By the lack of good arguments that has been given here on this occasion, I
would say the contrary is proven.
Only DeltOr have given a simple argument that would be understandable by
anyone.
