Hello, I'm looking to develop an application in Flash that will
simulate demographical data. What I want the user to experience is
clicking a button and finding out how long their "sim" will live, based
on national data. What I need to do on the back end is to be able to
plug in a few numbers: minimum age (let's say 1 year old) and maximum
age (let's say 105 years), average life expectancy (let's say 81 years)
and something to add weight to the average, like a median or mode.
(for instance I want more results to be around 60 years than I want to
be 90 years)
Is there some kind of formula I could write or some way to program a
computer to generate 100 "random" results, which when analyzed will
closely adhere to the statistical data that I have?
