Problem with exercise in Box, Hunter and Hunter Statistics for Experimenters

I am a chemist with the DOI brushing up on my statistics and learning design of experiments. I am using the 1st edition of Statistics for Experimenters and working some of the exercises. I am having trouble getting "their" answer for Exercises 5.14 and 5.16. Can someone help me figure out what I am doing wrong?
