Histograms comparison

Hi, I work in cell migration studies. I let them crawl along the
runway of a fixed with and they never can go beyond the finish. The
cells can be treated or untreated during the race. After a certain
period I fix them and measure the the distance left to finish the run.
There can be 200-500 cells in one race (number of cells participating
known only after stopping the experiment) and I can realistically have
no more than 10 runs in each group (of course the cells are not the
same each run). Now, untreated cells are expected to migrate more or
less uniformly, accumulating in a band near more toward the finish (a
histogram with one group of prominent bins), while treated may be more
scattered along the runway (more flat histogram) or form more than one
band.
Which test should I use to verify that histograms differ between
groups? (I have a feeling that Chi-square is not right - I have to
compare the GROUPS)
How to tell significantly different bins?
Thanks.
