normal distribution doubts

hi, i am a learner..have some doubts on normal distribution
characteristics
I read that if probability distribution of population is normal, then
its mean, median and mode are equal and that the curve is symmtrical.
By "equal" , what does it mean? are the values equal?
If a curve has skewness, ie not symmetrical, does it mean its not
normal?
