Is my basis research project stats technique OK?

I have a dataset that contains a number of measures on Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) usage in business and ICT decision
making in business, e.g.
ICT Usage measures and allowed values:
B1_USE_ICT - Y|N
B2_PERCENTAGE_USE_ICT - Y|N
B3_REMOTE_ACCESS - Y|N
B4A_COMM_WIRELESS_LAN - Y|N
I have then created a derived measure:
TOTAL_ICT_INTEGRATION = count of all ICT Usage measures where Y
Decision making measures:
F4B_USE_GAP_ANALYSIS_STRAT -
'A - NOT AT ALL'
'B - A FEW TIMES'
'C - ABOUT ONCE A MONTH'
'D - TWO TO THREE TIMES A MONTH'
'E - ABOUT ONCE A WEEK'
'F - MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK'
F4C_USE_STRATEGY_SCENARIOS -
[range of answers same as F4B_USE_GAP_ANALYSIS_STRAT]
+ many more measures of the same style as F4B and F4C
I have then created a derived measure:
TOTAL_ICT_DECISION_MAKING = sum all decision making measures where
A=1, B=2, C=3 ...
An XY plot shows a fairly high degree of correlation between
TOTAL_ICT_INTEGRATION and TOTAL_ICT_DECISION_MAKING
Is this a valid approach to measuring the correlation?
