I am trying to learn statistics with a practical example.
Veterans born before 1946
Baby Boomers 1946-1964
Gen X 1965-1979
Gen Y 1980-
You know the story Gen X will leave companies at the drop of a hat Gen
Y are worse. Well that is the theory so lets test it.
I have 10 years worth of data for my company for one particular job. This Job usually requires that you have Tertiary qualifications.
I have data
DOB Startdate FinishDate
Obviously not every body that has started with the company in the last ten years has left.
Do I remove from the sample all employees that have not left the company?
Distortions
Veterans will usually retire 60- 65. Does this even mater? Regardless of the reason for leaving retention is retention.
Gen Y employees will not have left University until they are 21 so if they were born after 1980 the earliest they could start the job would be 2001. Eliminating people that remain with with the company will distort the figures to a greater extent for Gen Y How do I correct for this.
