It scares the hell out of me too. In some cultures it is traditional for
every member of a household to vote as directed by the head. The UK
government is experimenting with internet voting as a possible answer to
low turnouts (as opposed to cleaning up government and bringing back the
notion of public service instead of "Yippee, I'm an MP so I'm now an
instant millionnaire with my own private gravy train"). But there's
absolutely no provision to ensure people get a private vote without
duress from the head of the household.
